ABOUT
Emmanuel Lazare was a Vodou Hougan in Port Au Prince, Haiti, living with his wife and children. As political turmoil enveloped the nation under President Papa Doc Duvalier, Emmanuel’s opposition to the oppressive regime led to a daring rescue mission. He orchestrated the smuggling of 226 political refugees out of Haiti, focusing on women and children who were most vulnerable.
The brave effort came at a great personal cost. The Tonton Macoute, Papa Doc’s secret police, pursued Emmanuel relentlessly, leading to the torture and tragic deaths of his wife and children. Despite the harrowing ordeal, Emmanuel finally found refuge in New Bordeaux after years of evasion.
In New Bordeaux, he chose to align with the Haitian Mob under Cassandra’s leadership. Recognizing his resilience and unwavering spirit, she appointed him as her religious advisor and entrusted him with managing the distribution of marijuana. Emmanuel remained loyal to the Haitian Mob ever since.
